Tandem Magazine
For my final university project, I conceptualised, designed, and produced Tandem, a print magazine that explored the theme of duality through compelling stories and cutting-edge augmented reality (AR). Each article highlighted individuals living dual lives—like a nurse who’s also a makeup artist or a micro-influencer working in retail—showcasing how opposites can coexist and thrive.
The magazine itself embodied this duality: a beautifully printed physical piece enhanced by AR technology. Using AR, static images on the page animated into video interviews, blending the tactile experience of print with the dynamic energy of digital media.
As the sole creator, I handled every aspect of the project—from conducting interviews and photography to graphic design, video production, and AR development. Despite a tight deadline and limited budget, I delivered a high-quality product that stood out among traditional short film projects, earning a 96% (First Class) and even selling 30 copies.
One of the most rewarding aspects was stepping into a professional photo studio for the first time, bringing my creative vision to life in a tangible way. Tandem was a testament to my passion for innovative storytelling and my ability to push boundaries in design and technology.
